What we offer:

  • A culture of excellence: PCP SCITT has consistently been graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2011, 2019 and 2024. As our most recent report states, “An expert team of professionals around each trainee work brilliantly together to ready them for the realities and rigours of teaching ... Leaders, trainers and mentors are united in a common purpose to provide excellent training.” This culture of high expectations coupled with high levels of support is what we offer to all our partners.

  • Opportunities for head teachers to retain and grow the potential of their own staff: The “increasingly popular apprenticeship route is establishing a strong track record as being highly effective preparation for teaching” (Ofsted, 2024). PCP won the bid to be Hampshire County Council’s only provider of primary teacher apprenticeships and many schools repeatedly take up this training offer as an affordable way to develop their own team.

  • Strong lines of communication: “Hugely popular ‘video shorts’ help keep centre and schools’ input closely aligned ... Everyone is crystal clear about their contribution and strives to deliver to the highest possible standard” (Ofsted, 2024). Mentors and head teachers appreciate the clarity and immediacy of communication with the centre and the way in which this is designed to reduce unnecessary workload pressures for mentors.

  • Very effective training and support for mentors: Mentors and lead mentors benefit from excellent research informed CPD, designed to be purposeful, directly actionable and manageable. Both generic and bespoke, personalised training builds on mentors’ starting points and generates strong results: “Trainees...are highly complimentary about the quality and consistency of mentoring that they receive. Mentors diligently carry out their roles with enthusiasm and even excitement” (Ofsted, 2024).

  • An excellent track record of trainees becoming high-quality ECTs: 100% of trainees have gained employment in the locality over the last five years and employing headteachers are confident that “the training prepares them for a life of teaching” (Ofsted, 2024).
