Portsmouth Primary SCITT was recognised as ‘Outstanding’ following an Ofsted inspection in February 2024.

We pride ourselves on communication with our partner schools, headteachers and mentors and this was also recognised in our Ofsted report, where inspectors commented that, ‘Attention to detail at every stage characterises leaders’ quality assurance of mentoring, training and assessment of trainees. Mentoring thoroughly lives up to the highest expectations. Mentors are comprehensively trained, supported and quality assured. Mentors’ and trainees’ reflective, collaborative and mutually supportive relationships are a stand-out feature of this programme.’

No element of our course exists without a clear purpose, and both mentors and trainees understand that we consider their wellbeing and workload with every decision we make.

As a smaller provider, we are able to make our training bespoke and personalised. This stands for our schools and mentors, as well as our trainees.

We provide both face-to-face and asynchronous training, send weekly update newsletters to all stakeholders and remain in regular contact with all mentors throughout the year. Optional weekly support sessions are available (virtually) for all mentors to liaise with the Course Lead for support and advice. This is in addition to the open-door policy we hold at all times, for all of our stakeholders.

We are always open to forming new partnerships and enjoy conversations based on how our programme can work to support school and mentor CPD, as well as initial teacher training.
